The community-owned memecoin on Unichain
Version 1.0 β August 2026
Unicat ($CAT) is a fully community-driven memecoin living on Unichain, the Ethereum Layer-2 built by Uniswap Labs. This paper explains what Unicat is, how it works, and why we built it the way we did. The short version: 1,000,000,000 $CAT exist, and every single one belongs to the community β 0% for a team, 0% for marketing. We hold nothing. The contract will be renounced after deployment, meaning no one can change the rules later β and the LP tokens will be burned at launch, meaning the liquidity can never be pulled. Unicat launches fairly on Uniswap, secured by Ethereum, powered by memes, and steered entirely by the people who hold it. No promises of riches here β just a cat, a chain, and a community that owns the whole thing.
A memecoin is a cryptocurrency that leverages internet memes to spark interest and adoption. Instead of leading with dense technical papers, memecoins lead with humor and shared culture. That makes them one of the most fun and accessible ways for newcomers to take their first steps into crypto. You do not need a computer science degree to get the joke β and getting the joke is the point.
Unicat is a memecoin, and we are proud of that. But we do things a little differently. There is no company behind Unicat. No foundation, no venture backers, no team allocation quietly waiting to be sold. Unicat is community-driven from day one: 100% of the supply goes to the community, and after deployment the contract is renounced, so no single party can ever pull the strings.
That means the holders make the decisions. Where Unicat goes next β the memes, the goals, the direction β is decided by the people who hold $CAT, not by a boardroom. It also means we owe you honesty: like all memecoins, $CAT is volatile and speculative, and nobody should treat it as a promise of profit. We are here for the culture, the community, and the cat.
Long before memecoins, there were memes. The internet turned jokes, images, and inside references into a kind of cultural currency β ideas that spread from person to person, mutating and multiplying as they went. A good meme is understood instantly, shared freely, and owned by no one. If that sounds a little like the ideals of crypto, that is no coincidence.
Blockchain gave those ideals a technical backbone. A blockchain is simply a decentralized ledger: a shared record of transactions maintained by many computers at once, with no bank or middleman in charge. No intermediaries means no single point of control β anyone can participate, and everyone can verify. It is the internet's culture of openness, expressed as infrastructure.
In 2013, the two worlds collided. Software engineers Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer created Dogecoin as a lighthearted parody of the crypto craze, built around the beloved Shiba Inu βDogeβ meme. The joke got out of hand β in the best way. Dogecoin grew a massive, generous community famous for tipping creators and funding charity efforts, proving that a coin born from humor could carry real culture and real goodwill.
Memecoins, at their best, are exactly that: the convergence of internet culture, humor, and technology.
Memecoins have a trust problem, and everyone knows it. Too many launches ask holders to believe in a team they cannot see, holding tokens they cannot count, behind a contract they can change at will. Our vision is simple: build a memecoin where trust is not required, because everything is verifiable. Unicat exists to prove that radical transparency and full community ownership are not just nice ideas β they can be the entire foundation of a project.
We want Unicat to be fun first. A cat, a community, a coin anyone can pick up without a finance degree or a whale-sized wallet. But underneath the fun, the structure matters: 100% of the supply goes to the community, the team holds nothing, and the contract will be renounced after deployment. That is not a promise to behave well. It is a design that makes misbehaving impossible. A coin that is structurally incapable of rugging its holders does not need you to trust anyone β and that is exactly the point.
Our long-term goal is bigger than one token. We want to show what a memecoin can be when nobody holds the keys: no hidden allocations, no privileged insiders, no switch that someone can flip. If Unicat lands on its feet, it becomes a reference point β proof that a community can carry a coin entirely on its own. No guarantees, no promises of price. Just a clean experiment, run in the open, owned by everyone who shows up.
The memecoin market moves fast β often too fast. New tokens launch in hours, sometimes minutes, with no documentation, no plan, and no transparency about who holds what. Hidden team allocations are quietly minted before the public ever gets a chance to buy. By the time holders learn the real distribution, the damage is usually done. Speed has become a substitute for substance, and holders pay the bill.
Layered on top of this is a relentless hype cycle. Coins are pumped through paid promotion and manufactured excitement, then dumped on the very community that believed in them. Every pump-and-dump erodes the legitimacy of the entire category. Genuine communities β and there are many β get lumped in with the schemes, and newcomers learn to assume that every memecoin is a trap until proven otherwise.
The root cause of most rug pulls is not bad luck. It is concentrated insider supply. When a founding team or a small group of early wallets controls a large slice of the tokens, the community's fate rests on the goodwill of people it cannot verify and cannot stop. One coordinated sell, one drained liquidity pool, one quiet contract change β and the floor disappears. As long as insiders hold the keys, every promise is just a promise.
There is also a quieter problem: cost. On Ethereum mainnet, gas fees can turn a small purchase into an expensive one, pricing out exactly the small holders that memecoin culture is supposed to welcome. When a swap costs more than the position itself, βcommunity coinβ becomes a contradiction. And one honest note before we go further: memecoins are inherently risky and volatile, whatever their structure. No design removes that risk β including ours. Never put in more than you can afford to lose.
Unicat's answer is structural, not verbal. We do not ask you to trust our promises, because we have removed the need for them. 100% of the $CAT supply β all 1,000,000,000 tokens β goes to the community. 0% to a team. 0% to marketing. We hold nothing. There is no insider allocation waiting to be dumped, because there are no insiders. The concentrated supply that causes rug pulls simply does not exist here.
The contract will be renounced after deployment. Once that happens, no one β not us, not anyone β can change the rules, mint new tokens, pause trading, or alter the supply. The token becomes what it is, permanently. This is the difference between a team that says βwe won'tβ and a contract that says βwe can'tβ. We prefer the second, and we think you should too. The same logic applies to liquidity: at launch, the LP tokens are burned, so the Uniswap pool can never be pulled β the other classic rug lever, welded shut on day one.
Everything about Unicat is verifiable on-chain. The supply, the distribution, the renounced ownership β none of it depends on our word. Anyone with a block explorer can check every claim in this document. We also take an open stance on intellectual property: the community may freely use and remix the Unicat name, logo, and art. Make memes, make merch, make it yours. A community-owned coin should be community-owned all the way down, whiskers included.
Finally, Unicat lives on Unichain, an Ethereum Layer-2 built by Uniswap Labs, where fees are near zero and blocks arrive in about a second. That means a holder with $10 gets the same access as a holder with $10,000 β no one is priced out of participating. Affordable, verifiable, and unruggable by design. That is the whole solution. The rest is up to the community β which is exactly how we want it.
Unicat lives on Unichain, an Ethereum Layer-2 built by Uniswap Labs on the OP Stack β the same technology stack that powers the Optimism Superchain. Its chain id is 130. In plain terms: Unichain is a fast, cheap network that sits on top of Ethereum, batches transactions together, and posts them back to Ethereum for settlement. You get speed without giving up the security of the world's most battle-tested smart contract chain.
Why does that matter for a community memecoin? Fees. On many chains, small transactions get eaten alive by gas costs. On Unichain, fees are near zero β so a holder with a few dollars of $CAT can swap, send, and participate just like a whale can. A community token only works if the whole community can actually use it. No one gets priced out of the litter box.
Speed matters too. Unichain produces blocks roughly every second, so trades confirm almost instantly. And because Unichain is built by Uniswap Labs, liquidity is native to Uniswap itself β the deepest and most widely used decentralized exchange in crypto. $CAT trades where DeFi already lives, with no bridges to obscure chains and no exotic infrastructure to trust.
Finally, security. As a rollup, Unichain inherits its security from Ethereum: transaction data is posted to Ethereum, and the network's state can be verified against it. We did not pick Unichain because it is trendy. We picked it because it is cheap enough for everyone, fast enough for real use, and anchored to Ethereum underneath. That is the right home for a token that belongs to its community.
The numbers are simple, and simple is the point. Total supply is 1,000,000,000 $CAT β one billion tokens, fixed forever. No inflation, no hidden minting, no surprise emissions. The supply you see at launch is the supply that will ever exist.
Every single token goes to the community. There is no team wallet. There is no marketing wallet. There are no vesting insiders waiting to unlock and dump on you. We hold nothing. If you want $CAT, you get it the same way everyone else does β on the open market, at the same starting line.
That starting line is a fair launch through Uniswap on Unichain. No presale, no private rounds, no allowlists for the well-connected. Liquidity goes live on Uniswap and the market takes it from there. Fair launches are rare because they leave nothing for insiders to take. That is exactly why we chose one.
After deployment, the contract will be renounced. Here is what that means in plain terms: smart contracts often have an βownerβ address with special powers β the ability to mint new tokens, pause trading, or change the rules. Renouncing means the owner role is permanently given up, so those functions can never be called again by anyone. No new $CAT can ever be minted. Trading can never be paused. The rules can never be changed. The code becomes as immutable as a cat's opinion of Mondays.
Renouncing closes one door; burning the LP tokens closes the other. When liquidity goes live on Uniswap, the pool issues LP tokens β receipts that let whoever holds them withdraw the pooled funds at any time. That withdrawal is the classic rug pull, and a renounced contract does nothing to stop it. So at launch, we burn the LP tokens: sent to a dead address, gone forever, and with them goes anyone's ability β including ours β to pull the liquidity. Both transactions, the renouncement and the burn, will be linked publicly on Uniscan the day of launch. Check them yourself; that is what they are for.
As for centralized exchange listings: they are goals the community can push toward together, not promises. We will not pretend otherwise. Exchanges list tokens that earn attention, and earning it is up to all of us.
Token name: Unicat. Symbol: CAT. Decimals: 18. Total supply: 1,000,000,000 (fixed). Distribution β Community: 100%, Team: 0%, Marketing: 0%.
A memecoin doesn't need a hundred use-cases β it needs a few real ones, done honestly. $CAT lives on Unichain, an Ethereum Layer-2 with near-zero fees and roughly one-second blocks, which means the things you'd actually want to do with a community token are cheap, fast, and simple. Here's what $CAT is for.
Sending value shouldn't cost more than the value you're sending. On Unichain, transfers settle in about a second for fractions of a cent, so $CAT works for the small stuff: tipping a creator who made you laugh, splitting something with a friend, rewarding a good post. Micro-payments finally make sense when the fee isn't the biggest line item. Small paws, small fees.
There's no marketing wallet and no team allocation β so if anyone gets rewarded for memes, contributions, or showing up, it's because the community decided to reward them, from their own holdings, on their own terms. Contests, bounties, shout-outs: all of it is community-funded and community-judged. We think that's healthier than a treasury drip. What gets celebrated is whatever the community actually values.
$CAT launches on Uniswap on Unichain β the chain Uniswap Labs built β so liquidity is native, not bridged in from somewhere else. Swaps are fast, fees are negligible, and the pool is open to everyone from block one. CEX listings are a goal we'll chase as a community, not a promise we're making today. Until then, the DEX is home turf.
The contract will be renounced after deployment, which means there is no admin, no switch, and no one above the holders. Direction comes from proposals and votes: what to build, what to support, where to point the collective energy. After renouncement the community doesn't just influence the project β the community IS the project. One holder, one voice, and decisions get made out loud.
Crypto communities have a habit of rallying fast when a cause matters, and a token with near-zero transfer fees is a good tool for it. We're not claiming a track record β $CAT is new. But if this community chooses to organize a charity drive, pool donations, or support a cause together, the rails are there and the choice is entirely theirs. Doing some good is a use-case too.
Memecoins don't spread through press releases; they spread through timelines. $CAT's natural habitat is social media β the memes, the jokes, the replies, the culture. Every share is organic because it has to be: there's no marketing budget, no paid promotion, no team pushing a narrative. If Unicat travels, it's because someone thought it was worth passing along. Cats have always run the internet. We're just leaning into it.
What the community does with that attention is up to the community. Meme contests, meetups, charity drives, tooling experiments β any of it can happen, but all of it is hosted by holders, not handed down by a team, because there is no team holding anything. Someone proposes, people show up, and it either becomes a tradition or it doesn't. That's not a limitation. That's the point.
Decentralized governance isn't a feature we bolted on β it's the operating model. With a renounced contract and a 100% community distribution, proposals and votes are the only steering wheel this project has. And here's the honest line: a community coin lives or dies by its community. We hold nothing, so we depend on everything the community brings. We think that's exactly the right kind of pressure.
Yes, we know: Unicat is a memecoin. But money is money, and security matters just as much for a cat coin as for anything else you hold. That is why we designed Unicat so that its safety does not depend on trusting us β or anyone. Our security is structural, not promised.
Here is what that means in practice. The $CAT contract will be renounced after deployment, so there are no privileged admin keys, no ability to mint new tokens, and no way to change the rules later. The supply is fixed at 1,000,000,000 forever. Every one of these claims is verifiable on-chain by anyone with a block explorer β you never have to take our word for it. Curiosity is a virtue around here.
A rug pull needs a lever, and structurally there are only two: owner powers over the contract, and control of the liquidity. Renouncement closes the first β no minting, no pausing, no rule changes, ever. The LP burn closes the second β with the LP tokens burned at launch, the Uniswap liquidity cannot be withdrawn by anyone, us included. Two vectors, two permanent closures, both verifiable on-chain from day one.
Most memecoin fraud has the same root cause: concentrated insider power. A team wallet that can dump, a mint function that can print, an owner key that can flip a switch. Unicat removes that entire category of risk by holding nothing and controlling nothing. Giving all power to the community is not just our philosophy β it is the security model itself. On top of that, Unichain inherits Ethereum's security through the rollup model, so $CAT settles on one of the most battle-tested foundations in crypto.
The last line of defense is you. Always verify the official contract address before buying, watch out for impostor tokens wearing our whiskers, and never, ever share your seed phrase with anyone β not even someone claiming to be from Unicat. We will never ask for it. Stay curious, stay careful.
Let us be completely clear: memecoins are highly volatile and speculative assets. $CAT has no intrinsic value, generates no revenue, and carries no expectation of profit. It is a community token and a cultural experiment, nothing more. This document is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute investment, legal, or tax advice. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold anything.
The regulatory treatment of tokens like $CAT is uncertain and varies by jurisdiction, and it may change in ways no one can predict. It is your responsibility to understand the laws that apply to you. Only ever commit funds you can genuinely afford to lose entirely β the value of $CAT can go to zero.
Because the contract will be renounced and no entity controls the token afterward, there is no company, foundation, or team that can reverse transactions, recover lost funds, or reimburse mistakes. If you send tokens to the wrong address or fall for a scam, the transaction is final. That permanence is the price of true decentralization β please act accordingly.
Unicat starts from a simple observation: memes are crypto's most powerful adoption engine, and a coin that is fun and accessible brings more people on-chain than a whitepaper full of jargon ever will. So we built the simplest honest version of that idea β $CAT, a fixed supply of one billion tokens, 100% owned by the community, launched on Uniswap on Unichain with near-zero fees, and made structurally rug-proof through a renounced contract that no one, including us, can ever change, plus LP tokens burned at launch so the liquidity can never be pulled. We will not pretend it escapes the risks of all crypto β it does not β but it escapes the risks that come from trusting insiders, because there are none.
The rest of the story is not written in this document. It gets written by the community β by everyone who holds, builds, memes, and lands on their feet alongside us. If that sounds like your kind of clowder, come say hello. www.unicat.meme β meow@unicat.meme
